Nov_7 copy.jpg

Gin lovers rejoice, 2021 is here and that means it's time to find your cocktail shaker, stock up on your favourite drink ingredients and invite your friends over to yours for an afternoon in the sun. We've got the only list you'll need to make the best gin cocktails.

With that said, while the sunshine definitely makes a chilled martini all the more enticing, mixing your favourite gin cocktail definitely isn't just reserved for warmer months.

With these all-time favourite gin cocktail recipes, you'll be everyone's all-time favourite host, whatever the time of year:

Gin and Tonic

We hope a classic G&T is at the top of your repertoire, but just in case... Remember simplicity is key.

Serves 1

  • A generous amount of ice

  • 1 part 1919 Classic Gin

  • 2 parts tonic water (our favourite is East Imperial)

  • A wedge of lime

Pineapple Collins

A twist on the classic Tom Collins cocktail. The subtle taste of pineapple from the gin hints of a tropical holiday, while the citrus of the lemon juice cuts through the sugar syrup to find a perfect balance of sweet and sour. Best served while seated outdoors soaking up the sun with a group of friends.

Serves 7: 100ml Pour

  • 420ml 1919 Pineapple Gin

  • 140ml Sugar Syrup 1:1 ratio

  • 140ml Lemon Juice – fresh is best

Guest method: Add 100ml to a tall highball or double old fashion glass with lots of ice, top with soda, and garnish with pineapple chunks. Store bottle in fridge.

Want to mix it up even more? Just add mint leaves when making the syrup and garnish with pineapple and mint.

Negroni

Could you really take this gin cocktail list seriously without if we didn't mention a Negroni? You've probably ordered it out at a bar, but maybe you've never actually made one at your place. It's easier than you'd think, and you can bring that cocktail bar coolness into your own home.

Serves 1

  • 25ml 1919 Gin

  • 25ml Sweet Vermouth

  • 25ml Campari

  • Ice

  • A slice of orange to garnish

Method

  1. Pour the spirits into a mixing glass with ice. Stir well until the outside of the glass feels cold.

  2. Strain into a tumbler and add 1 large piece of ice

Martini

Continuing with the cocktail bar coolness, it's fitting that this classic cocktail makes it on the list. A delicious martini usually finds a perfect balance between the botanicals of gin’s juniper berry and a dry vermouth’s herbal qualities.

Serves 1

  • 60ml 1919 Gin

  • Vermouth, to taste

  • Choose your garnish, olives, pickled onion, or even a lemon rind

Method

  1. Stir the gin with however much dry vermouth you prefer. The more you use the more herbal it will be. Stir to taste until you find your perfect martini. Finish it off with your garnish of choice.

Pink Gin Fizz

A flute of Pink Gin Fizz is light and refreshing, and might just become your new favourite way to celebrate the summer months. Our 1919 Pink Gin is made with cinnamon and cardamom for a delicate, subtle spice, and high-quality raspberries and 100% Auckland grown strawberries for a sophisticated berry finish.

Serves 8.75: 80ml pour

  • 350ml 1919 Pink Gin

  • 175ml Lemon Juice – fresh is best

  • 175ml Diluted Strawberry Syrup – See me for explanation

Guest method: Add 80ml of the above mixture (chilled) to a flute or coupe, top up with sparkling wine or Champagne, and garnish with fresh strawberries. Plus be sure to store the bottle in fridge if you're not consuming it all at once.
